There's a lady at my church. Jennifer. She's a young mom, just had her third child. Her husband's (Robert) dad teaches my parent's Sunday school class. We've been over to their house (parent's Sunday school teacher's house) for Sunday school parties and the like. We also used to sit in front of them in service, before Daddy started running the sound and we started sitting in the balcony.
Anyway, at one of these things, while waiting for my parents and sis to get ready to go, I showed Robert some of my drawings. He thought they were neat. That was...half a year? a year? ago. Apparently, Jennifer has had an idea of a children's book she's been wanting to write. But she needed someone to illistrate it. Robert remembered my drawings and told her about me. My sister was at a youth thing at thier Robert's parents' house (they have a farm, so loooots of room for all the youth!) and was told about this. She passed the message onto me.
I was flattered, but unsure if my style would be what Jennifer was looking for.
Sunday night we had an ice cream social after service. I was at work, but I made it home in time for the ice cream part. A little late, but still there. Jennifer found me as things were winding down and asked me about it. I had my sketchbook with me, as I've taken to keeping it in my purse, and so I showed her some of my drawings. She really seemed to like them, although she didn't say if she'd like to use me for sure or not. Which is understandable seeing as she saw my art for the first time on Sunday.
She did tell me some about what she was wanting though. She wanted a Christian artist, since this was going to me a Christian book, and she wanted it to be someone she knew. The story would be mostly about a mom, a little girl, and a horse. The girl would grow up during the storyline.
So....I need some help. I never drawn a horse. Well, at least not one that anyone would want to see, or think was good, beyond a five year old. So...does anyone have any advice? Any suggestions? Tutorials? Ideas? Anything? Do I need to watch videos of them to understand it best? go look at really ones for a little bit? (although I'd like to avoid that one as most things with fur make my allergies go wild. I dunno for sure if horses do, but I'm not that fond of testing the theory). What's the best idea for learning to draw horses? I could really use advice on this!
Also, any advice on drawing kids? I know you can't draw them like little adults, the proportions are wrong for that. I have some trouble with kids (although not as much with horses) and would love any advice, or whatever that you can give me.
Backgrounds, animials, anything and everything, I'll take advice on it all!
But I really could use advice on the horses! XD

A good siggy I could not find,
So I've put down what comes to mind.
My Paw-paw has a little ditty,
That now I'm sticking in my siggy:
My love for you will ever flow,
Like water down the 'tater row.
